There are several grades of membership to the DBKA<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Registered<\/strong> – this is the main adult membership. It includes membership of the national British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) which includes the monthly BBKA News, public liability insurance and many other benefits. It also includes Bee Disease Insurance (BDI) for up to 3 hives. Insurance for additional hives up to 39 can be bought in addition<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partner<\/strong> – this is membership for another adult at your address. This also includes membership of the BBKA and, by extension, public liability coverage. BDI is not needed as hives are covered in the Registered membership (please answer zero to the number of hives question when completing a Partner membership form)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Junior<\/strong> – this is membership for under 18s, where the Junior is the sole beekeeper in the family. This includes the insurances to be a beekeeper<\/p>\n\n\n\n Local<\/strong> – this is membership of just the DBKA and not the BBKA. It doesn’t include any of the insurance or other benefits of the BBKA. It may be someone who is already a full member of a neighbouring association or someone who wishes to enjoy the social aspect of DBKA meetings<\/p>\n\n\n\n School<\/strong> – this is the equivalent of the Registered membership but for Schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n Membership always runs from Jan 1st to Dec 31st irrespective of when you join in the year. In your first year if you join between January 1st and September your first renewal will that December 31st. If you first join after September your membership will be the rest of that year and all the subsequent one. The reason for this is that from September it’s the end of the beekeeping season anyway and also the Association calculates and pays its fees to the BBKA twice a year and September is the second time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Membership Rates for 2027:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
